Using left-handed controls for writing practice
Arrange the PlayABC drawing controls for a left-handed learner while keeping the model and instructions clear.
Change the control order
Open Practice, tap Options and turn on Left-handed controls. The drawing actions reverse their order within the available toolbar. The target letter remains the same: left-handed mode does not mirror the alphabet or reverse a word. Choose the arrangement that the learner finds comfortable.
Give the drawing room to breathe
Use the device position that makes the guide easy to see. Watch the pencil before drawing, then close the settings dialog. The square canvas keeps its proportions when the device rotates, and normalized points preserve a saved attempt through a resize. A larger screen may feel easier for some activities.
Try a short familiar model
Start with one line or a familiar letter. Undo is available when a stray movement needs removing. Wider guides offer more room during a first attempt. These settings adapt this digital exercise; a teacher can help with the different practical details of writing on paper.
Keep a paper option nearby
Print a practice sheet and compare the experience with the screen. Finger tracing and pencil writing involve different tools and surfaces. Use the school’s preferred letter model where relevant, and ask the teacher about any persistent difficulty rather than interpreting an app score as a handwriting assessment.
