Before letters: playful pre-writing

Large lines and simple shapes give children an inviting place to begin.

Begin away from the screen

Draw a road on paper and move a toy car along it. Make circles in the air and wide waves with a ribbon. Use paper and suitable washable drawing materials under adult supervision. The goal is exploration, not a page of identical marks.

Make the guide comfortable

In tracing practice, choose Beginner and start with a line or curve. Watch the pencil demonstration together. Let your child choose a hand and use a comfortable position; do not force a left-handed child to switch hands.

Look at the whole attempt

A tidy half-circle is still unfinished. PlayABC checks each required section and shows what remains. Celebrate finishing the path, then practise the movement on paper. A score is feedback about that attempt, not a judgement of your child.
