Discover six guitar strings through playful listening

Explore the open-string notes in the PlayABC guitar playground and build a short pattern with a parent.

Start with one string

Open Music and choose Guitar. Each large button represents an open string. Tap a button and let its sound ring before trying another. The six labels follow the familiar E, A, D, G, B, E tuning order. A keyboard user can choose the same strings with number keys 1 through 6.

Compare two sounds

Play the first E and the last E. Notice that they share a letter name but sound at different heights. Then let your child choose two neighbouring strings to hear. Asking what they notice leaves room for their own words, humming or gestures without requiring a technical explanation.

Make a beginning and an ending

Choose three strings, play them slowly and finish with a pause. Record this small pattern, listen to it, then decide together whether to keep or replace it. The local tune recorder has a short limit and does not use the microphone.

Understand the digital model

The guitar sound is synthesized from a plucked-string model. The playground offers open strings; it does not simulate every fret, chord shape, strumming technique or acoustic guitar detail. A real instrument lesson adds hand position, tuning, care and musical expression that these buttons cannot teach alone.
